Charity staff and volunteers were among guests invited to the ceremony at Newcastle Borough Council's civic offices on  Monday 13th August 2012

Society chairman Kevin Healey said: "This prestigious honour recognises outstanding voluntary contributions across Britain. It is amazing news for the charity and comes just five years after we were founded. To get such recognition from the Queen is absolutely fantastic."
